Destination Guide

The best time to visit Bali (and when to avoid the crowds)

Season by season, here is when Bali is at its most beautiful — and how to time your honeymoon just right.

Bali is a year-round destination, but the experience changes a lot with the seasons. Here is how to pick your window — and dodge the biggest crowds.

The dry season (April to October)

This is Bali at its best: sunny days, lower humidity and calm seas perfect for snorkelling and island-hopping. May, June and September are the sweet spot — lovely weather without the July–August peak-season crowds and prices.

The green season (November to March)

Expect short, heavy afternoon showers rather than all-day rain. The island is lush, quieter and noticeably cheaper, and mornings are often clear. If you do not mind a daily downpour, it is a beautiful, relaxed time to visit — especially for a honeymoon.

Timing a honeymoon

For a romantic trip, aim for the shoulder months of April, May, June or September. You get warm, dry weather, sunset dinners without the crowds, and better value on the private-pool villas Bali is famous for.

A quick planning tip

Bali is bigger than it looks. Rather than hopping hotels every night, we usually suggest basing yourself in two areas — say Ubud for greenery and Uluwatu or Seminyak for the coast — to cut down on travel time.
